Lawn grubs feed on the roots of plants like the grass in your lawn. The grubs are common and attack old and new grass and turf. As the lawn grub population increases the lawn will start to die off in patches. The infestation will increase until the lawn dies or the lawn grub is treated successfully.

At the stage of the damage in the photo a red wasp will start to appear in the grass. If you look closely you will notice a red wasp dancing from place to place all over the lawn.

The red wasp is a parasitic wasp that uses the bodies of lawn grubs as hosts to incubate their young.

Once the young has grown to a suitable size it devours the lawn grub.

A excellent sign that you have lawn grubs is the sign of this wasp.

The lawn grub has multiple cycles and will damage lawns from Summer to Autumn.
